Whoop! Yesterday and today we put some of our gift cards to good use. We got went to Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Walmart. We got a bunch of organizational stuff to help us keep things in order.

The best purchase of the day was our new TV! We got a 46″ Sony Bravia for our living room.

We will put up some more pictures once we get it all opened and setup.

That is awesome! Puttin’ those gift cards to good use I see…Sony Bravia’s are known for their quality sound and crisp imagery–good choice! Can’t wait to see pics of everything coming together!

It’s not the mirrors?

Stuff is everywhere!

Now to the nitty-gritty: unpacking and organizing! It’s a little hard when you’ve never lived with someone before to decide where to put everything! But we’re working on it and finding new stuff to arrange every day! As you can see below, we’ve washed and put away the dishes, but the office still needs a lot of work!

Here are more shots of the stuff that’s everywhere and boxes to be unloaded. These are the “before” pictures; we can’t wait til all the “putting away” is done and we can show you pretty “after” pics!

This is our rings on our table the first night in our new place!

Looks arranged to me…

Alright! It’s been a few weeks; so how about some “AFTER” pictures.

Love you,

Mom

deplane, unload, unpack

This was the big moving day; for Elyse and I… not our stuff. We headed to the airport for our flight that was scheduled for 5:40p.

However, there was a crazy storm in Tampa that delayed our flight 2 hours. We got there fine later that night and stayed in a hotel in Lawrence.

Is this a good sign? I mean it is a nice sign, but it is a bad sign. I grew up my whole life without seeing one of these signs but now they are everywhere. I guess I could also add that on Mondays at high noon they feel the need to test the tornado warning sirens. There just happens to be one about 100yds away from our new place.

The next morning we headed to the office at 8 to get the keys to our new place! Then, we met the truck driver at 8:30 and began unloading our stuff. In Florida, the driver hired local movers to pack our stuff, but in Kansas he and his son did the unloading themselves, so it took a long time… about 11 hours! We were just glad to have our stuff so soon, though! We had to inventory everything as it came off to make sure it was all there.

Danni & Luke - July 12, 2008 - 12:13 am

How does a semi-truck full-o-stuff fit into a 2bdrm. apt…? We confoozed…
It must be quite a change to see the signs everywhere about you know what…Scary…

FIREWORKS!

For the Fourth of July there was a great party with friends and family at the Brown’s house to celebrate the holiday, Mom’s b-day, and our impending move/see ya later! One of our favorite things to do is play volleyball with everybody:

We also love shooting off fireworks. Left: Chris, Luke, and Danielle setting up for the fun. Right: Danielle plugging my ears from the crazy loud ones! What a true friend! (That’s Cole, Luke, Chris, and Dad in the background making all the noise.)

Chris’ mom took some great pictures of the fireworks that we shot off over the lake.

HEY , I’ve seen these pics before! The blog is great. You 2 are on your Great Adventure that will last a life time. We love you both!

Danni & Luke - July 12, 2008 - 12:06 pm

The 4th was such a great time spent with everyone…Hang em’ high-n-shoot em’ low, yee-haw! Great pics from Madelyn of the fireworks!

Tyson Brown - July 14, 2008 - 9:31 pm

That pic with the straight-line fireworks is sweet – nice job Madelyn!

Nancy - August 10, 2008 - 9:11 pm

Jess and I thought the pictures of the fireworks were great. Next time you have volleyball would love to come. The one and only trophy I ever won was for volleyball when I was in school-yes they did have volleyball when I went to school.

Pack and Load

Yesterday and today the moving company came and loaded us all up. First, they loaded everything at Elyse’s house. Then they came to my office where it took them the rest of the day to finish there. This morning that came by my house to finish up. The crazy part was that the driver of the truck let the packing guys leave once they got all of our boxes on the truck and then he loaded our cars onto the trailer…at least that was suppose to happen. Elyse’s car went on then my truck but there was about 3 feet of my truck sticking out of the back! The driver, his son, and me had to re-pack the boxes so that my truck would fit in all the way. It only took us three hours and one bump on my head.

Nancy - August 10, 2008 - 9:32 pm

They put both of your vehicles in the truck with your furniture and belongings? I’m glad you were there to supervise Chris.

Honey Spot

After the wedding we were off to our honeymoon. We spent the night at in Tampa at the Marriott Waterside.

The next day we were on our way to Weston, Florida… just outside of Ft. Lauderdale. We stopped on Alligator Alley along the way and got that picture with an alligator in the background on the left.

On Tuesday we tried to go to Ft. Lauderdale beach, but just as we got out of the car the beach was closed for lightning and a storm rolled in. By the time we drove back to our hotel the storm was over, so we hung out by the pool.

That night Chris took me to the Cheesecake Factory at Sawgrass Mills; I had never been to one before!

The next day we went to South Beach, Miami. Again, it began storming on our way down, but that didn’t stop us from getting a few pictures on the beach! On the way back to Weston, it cleared up and we stopped at the Riverwalk in Ft. Lauderdale.

Our favorite adventure on the trip was our day in the Everglades. We got to hold this awesome little Gator and go on an air boat tour.

The air boat ride was really fun and we got to see about 6 alligators, several of which swam right up to the boat!

On our one week anniversary we went to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner. There were some funny little fish in that tank beside us that kept us entertained.

The next day we headed back to New Port Richey for a couple weeks to tie up some loose ends and get ready to move to Kansas!

kooru - July 11, 2008 - 6:56 pm

Such a cute baby alligator.

You should tame one and keep it in your bathtub – to remind you of home…

Cuz all the bathtubs in Florida have baby alligators…

The Big Day

The wedding was awesome! We were so excited that the church got done in time for us to get married there. It is such a nice building!

The flowers, plants, and bridesmaids looked beautiful (and the groomsmen too, I guess! : ) Chris and I were so happy with the way everything turned out and are thankful to our parents, friends, and family for making it possible.

The cake was delicious and was designed by Chris! The reception was decorated by mom and her team and looked so tropical and awesome! And of course, who doesn’t love a Mountain Dew booth?

Here we are leaving the wedding under a shower of rose petals… Followed by handfuls being shoved down Chris’ shirt!

The wedding was a blast and we had a great time! The pictures above were taken by friends and family; we’ll let you know when the ones from the photographers are online.

Danni & Luke - July 12, 2008 - 12:07 am

Ri-i-i-i-i-p! Your wedding was beautiful! The cake really was soooo good and I don’t usually eat cake…I was honored to be your matron of honor even though my dress ripped and my ribbon got toilet water on it…HA!

Allison - July 15, 2008 - 7:35 pm

Your wedding looks beautiful!! Congratulations!
