So today was my first day of work for Schlumberger Oilfield Services in Lawrence, Kansas! Yeay my first full time job out of college! My job tiltle is Six Sigma Engineer.
I’m excited to hopefully learn a lot in my new job and get some awesome Six Sigma training under my belt. I’m going to get some Black Belt training in Houston over the next few months, but more to come about that later. My first day of work was great and was mostly orientation and benfits/medical info.
I also bought some steel-toed boots today. Well, I didn’t know there was such a thing as steel-toed tennis shoes, but that’s what I got b/c they are better. My job is basically in quality control and Lean (cost savings) and I will spend about 50% of the time on the 350,000 sq. ft manufacturing floor, so now my toes will now be safe from the machinery!
Schlumberger is in the Oil industry and the plant where I work maufactures motors. More specifically, they start with copper wire and coldwork it etc. to get it to the size they want to work with to make different types of wires to power motors that pump oil.
