Allie-update

Allie and Jessica came home this afternoon from the hospital! They are doing fine. We called Jessica this evening and heard Allie “talking” in the background.

John is taking vacation to hang out with Allie and his mom and sister are there to meet her, too. I hope to get to meet Niece Allie next week when I’m in Houston for training!

Allie lost some weight in the hospital, so she’s 6 lb 8 oz, but she should start gaining weight today. She has a doctor appointment on Friday.

She looks so sweet taking a nap in this picture!

I hope to see you in Houston next week! Can’t wait to see my G’daughter in person!!

Meet Max, the puppy

This is Max. He is our neighbor and a good one at that. We met him on one of his daily walks. He is so little! He is a miniature dachshund and he is only 11 weeks old.

Max’s dad just got a job and that means I got a job! I get to walk Max and hang out with him while his mom and dad are at work (go ahead, be jealous). Anyways, we usually just hang out and play on all the rocks outside. He really enjoys eating leaves, rocks and just about anything else he can find.

Watch it with those Daschunds! Trust me – they’ll grow on you and you’ll want one too! Hubby and I have one. They have such a personality! If you haven’t gotten one yet – get a blanket and I guarrantee that’ll be Max’s favorite place. They love burrowing right in.

Rusty - September 25, 2008 - 11:52 am

I am very jealous and I miss you guys! woof woof!!!

Max Brown - September 27, 2008 - 8:34 pm

Hey! Hey! Just a minute here! That name has already been retired in this family!

The REAL Max
growl ! growl!

Aunt & Uncle…AGAIN!!!

Today Allie Lynn Hannan was born at 7.0 pounds and 19 inches! She is a healthy baby girl, daughter of Jessica and John (my sister and BIL).

She even has 10 fingers and 10 toes! We are thankful that Allie and Jess are doing great. It was a little scary b/c Jess went in for an emergency C-section b/c the baby was in distress. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck. They are all doing fine now, and as you can see Allie has a FULL head of red hair (who would have thought?!)

We didn’t get to take these pictures, but we look forward to meeting Allie when we go to Houston in November for another one of Elyse’s trainings.

Congrats Jess and John for being parents and congrats to Mom and Dad for being grandparents (you’re gettin old)! And congrats to us for being an Aunt and Uncle again!

Cheryl - September 22, 2008 - 9:57 am

She’s a beautiful little niece! It was thoughtful of Allie to wait until power was restored to Houston before she made her rather dramatic entrance. Congrats on being an aunt and uncle again!

Madelyn - September 22, 2008 - 10:12 am

It’s great being an Aunt and Uncle. (Being a Grandma isn’t so bad either) Just think of all the fun stuff you can do together!!

Danni - September 22, 2008 - 4:04 pm

Awe! Some! So glad to hear everyone is doing okay! She is precious! :)

Cole - September 22, 2008 - 5:24 pm

Alliegator.

Mrs. Sandy - September 23, 2008 - 8:54 am

aaaawwwww….how sweet! I knew you two would have a photo for me to see this morning! I have been meaning to check in on you two for weeks….it’s great to “see” you this morning. Miss you! Mrs. Sandy

Tyson Brown - September 23, 2008 - 8:13 pm

Yay! Congrats!! She’s cute!

date night

Chris took me on a date! We had a fun time together and went to the movies.

Earlier, Chris got a bunch of boxes to help organize his sample products. Hopefully some more organization will help him feel more settled in his new office.

Madelyn - September 21, 2008 - 8:14 pm

Chris organized? Will it ever happen? Maybe in a time far far away!!
Love ya anyway

GAMEDAY Tradition!

Ever since the wonderful days of Gainesville, Jimmy John’s has been one of our gameday traditions. (Slim 2 add cheese!) Anyways, its like the perfect lunch for gameday, nice and light but perfectly filling. It was fun to go there for Home games because the Gators would drive by on their way to the ‘Gator Walk.’ It was also good for Away games because you could grab it and head home to catch the pre-game on TV.

Well, keeping tradition alive we have located our local Jimmy John’s continue to stop by on gameday!

GO GATORS! (Georgia and Auburn are allowed to do good too.)

Madelyn - September 21, 2008 - 8:13 pm

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t forget your 1st love:}

BAND+AID

Well, as you guys have read over the past few weeks, we have some very dangerous (but very great) knives in our kitchen. Cole experienced that first hand when he came to visit and he must have thought we’d be needing lots of band-aids in the near future. So, for my birthday he sent me 4 boxes of Star Wars bandages! Haha! They’re great!

We have already used some!

Thank you Cole!

I think you should put one of these in your rotating blog header! Love, Mom

Bag Refund!

Today we went to the grocery store to stock back up. We used our reusable grocery bags for the first time. Usually we remember them after we get to the store.

We didn’t even know it but you get a 5 cent discount per reusable bag. Plus they are good for the environment!

Chris made us some great hamburgers in our cast iron skillet and some homemade banana pudding! Now we are watching some Monday Night Football (dun-dun-dun-dun).

Oh yeah, I was suppose to leave for Houston yesterday for a few weeks of training, but it got postponed because of the destruction of hurricane Ike. Chris’ sister, Jessica, and her husband John live in Houston; their power is out and could be for a few weeks! They are expecting a baby at the end of the month, so this is not a fun time for Jessica to be without electricity!

Ryan and Meghan Rigby - September 16, 2008 - 7:20 am

Hey guys! Don’t you just love the reusable grocery bags? We don’t get a refund, though!
Elyse – let us know when your training in Houston gets rescheduled. Ryan is heading to Houston for some training mid-October, so maybe you’ll both be there at the same time and could visit! We hope to talk to you soon!

Chef Cole - September 18, 2008 - 5:10 pm

I taught him his skillet burger skills…

Though I will say I am disappointed they are merely ‘great’ this time around.

Clinton Lake

This afternoon I asked Elyse if she’d like to go on a bike ride at the park. She said, “Yes!” So, I loaded up the bikes in the back of my truck and we headed to Overlook Park at Clinton Lake.

We saw this patch of mushrooms on the way in so we decided to back and take some pictures.

Doesn’t it make you want to go in and look around?

Well, we forgot to bring the camera on our ride but we had a really good time. We rode until the cement path ended but there were some dirt paths that kept going to we decided to give them a try. They ended up going up to the top of this little hill (it was called a mound?) that overlooked the lake. There was a bench at the top that we sat at for a little bit (mainly to catch our breathe) before heading back down.

When we got back to the truck we took a few pictures before loading up. I asked Elyse if we could go play a little Disc Golf and she said that would be fine! Our local disc golf course is at Centennial Park which is only a few miles from our house.

Here I am practicing a little bit by throwing my disc’s at Elyse. It was really windy today due to a cold front and some left over parts of Hurricane IKE. We had a really great time.

And here is the most beautiful person at the park!

Danni - September 15, 2008 - 3:27 pm

Heck Yes, disc golf rocks our socks! Looks like ya’ll had a great day!

Cheryl - September 16, 2008 - 8:53 am

I remember “the mound.” It was 0.3 miles from the parking lot and someone didn’t want to walk that far. I’m glad you got a picture so we could see what was actually there. Honey, why do you have on a jacket, it’s still summer? Love you, Mom

Michelle Graves Schulze - September 16, 2008 - 3:17 pm

Disc Golf! I had never even heard of it until Eric and I moved to Texas… they love it here!
Looks like you all are having fun; it’s neat to be able to read about adventures of other newlyweds in a new place!

Tyson Brown - September 18, 2008 - 5:49 pm

That first pic of the pier thingy is cool! Nice & gritty.
