Tampa Bay falls in the sixth

We got some tickets to the Ray’s game in Kansas City for tonite. We usually sit up a few levels but these field level seats were awesome. The Ray’s started off strong with 2 runs in the first against James Shields, who was traded to the Royals from Tampa. Then nothing happened until the bottom of the sixth when the Royals stepped up and it was all downhill from there. The Royals won 8 to 2.

Great seats! Too bad the Rays lost!

Chita celebrated her third birthday today. We got her a new toy raccoon with 2 squeakers for twice as much fun. Anyways, she is doing well and looking forward to warmer weather.

Copper Mountain 2013

We went on a road trip to Colorado! After a 9 hr drive, we met my family at Copper Mountain. We got to go sledding and have snowball fights with our nephews! A few of us had some impressive wipeouts. We also went snowboarding, skiing, and snowmobiling. I hadn’t been snowboarding in about 6 years, so it was great to go again. Chris was looking forward to the snowmobiling and wasn’t disappointed; we went on a “performance” fast-paced ride up 12,500 feet to the Continental Divide. It was intense! We enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery in the area and also hanging around with the family, playing with dart guns, and board games. Chris braved the zip line above a frozen pond and Cole & Tyson did indoor snowboarding jumps at Woodward. When it was time to leave, we got some help packing the truck back up, then made our way through poor visibility in the mountains, saw several huge wind farms on the drive, and got back home to pick up Chita. We had a great time and loved seeing you guys!

Winter Storm Q

Early this morning Winter Storm Q came through Lawrence. We had been warned that there would be a heavy downfall of snow, and it started coming true at about 7am and continued through the morning. At times, snow was falling at a rate of 4″ per hour.

Winter Storm Q

We probably got about 10″ of accumulation today with 3′ drifts (the retaining wall in front of our shed is 3′ tall and you can barely see it!) We shoveled snow multiple times throughout the day to try to keep up with it.

Winter Storm Q

After work and shoveling we took my truck out for a spin. We did some in-town driving as well as country roads. We saw quite a few stuck, abandoned cars on the road. Sometimes off to the side and sometimes right in the middle of an intersection or entrance/drive. The forecast says more snow tonight and then a break til Monday…

¡Feliz Cumpleaños Bruce!

Our buddy Bruce had his birthday this month. He invited a bunch of friends to a local mexican restaurant to help him celebrate. This particular place gives you a wonderful hat sombrero to wear while they sing to you. As you can tell by his face, he was a good sport about it all. Family, friends, food, the grand-baby, and free ice cream…it doesn’t get any better!

Happy Birthday Bruce
