  • Welcome to our Blog!

We are so excited to have you visit our blog.

We decided that keeping a blog would be the best way for us to keep our friends and family updated on what we have been up to since we moved from Florida to Lawrence, Kansas.

We like knowing that you visited our site, so please leave some comments. Thanks so much for stopping by; we hope you enjoy the stories and pictures.

Like the Good Ol’ Days

While we were in North Carolina we were excited to hear that Chelsea was going to come down from Virginia to visit. It was great hanging out with the whole gang again and get to catch up with Chelsea as well! We got to hear about the cool stuff Chelsea is learning about in her coast guard school including how to do welding and plumbing!

Good Ole Days

We had picked up some supplies at Home Depot to make our own targets, so for the rest of the weekend we shot guns… a lot.

Good Ole Days

We also enjoyed playing with the doggies every day and even one evening of board games. We had a great time seeing our old friends; thanks for having us Mr. & Mrs. Z and thanks for making the drive down to hang-out Chelsea!

Fishin’ in North Carolina

While we were with Mr. Z in North Carolina, Elyse decided she wanted to go fishing. So we jumped in the truck and headed down to the local Wal*mart to pick up a couple of fishing poles and Elyse’s secret bait.

Fishin

We started our fishing trip at Danielle’s grandpa’s pond. Elyse didn’t have much luck, but I caught two small bass (above). We decided to move locations to her uncle’s pond which was bigger. We both caught a fish at the same time (below). I figured out that I’m really good at catching small fish.

Fishin

Elyse finished off our fishing excursion by catching two more good sized bass. She caught the biggest fish of the day right as the sun was going down.

Raven Rock State Park

While we were in North Carolina we went with Mr. Z and his doggies, Zoe and Paisley, on the Raven Rock Trail. The Trail was over a mile each way and early on the way down Zoe found a huge stick and carried it down and all the way back. She looked around quite a bit before selecting the best stick. We tried offering her a “normal” dog-sized stick, but she preferred a much bigger limb! We all had to get out of her way as she came down the path. Near the end of the trail we walked down some steep stairs to the river’s edge. We threw sticks into the river for Zoe to fetch. Paisley pretty much just swam along and bugged Zoe! Cole and Mr. Z climbed some trees and the cliff! We hiked along the river some more and even slid down to a rock jutting out over the river. It was a very pretty trail! Enjoy the pictures…

Beautiful Pictures! I love the one of you guys on the rock on the river.

North Carolina Museum of History

While we were on our Segway tour we went past the North Carolina Museum of History. After our fill of BBQ we decided to go check it out. We walked around, looked at all the exhibits, and Mr. Z even tried his hand at milking a fake cow. It was fun and we all had a good time.

After we got back from Raleigh, Mr. Z pulled out his .22 rifle and some targets for us to shoot at in the backyard. We stapled them to the trees and all took turns making different kinds of shots. As a side note, we did find out Cole shoots just as good left handed as he does right handed.

Shootin

When it got dark we pulled down all of our targets and added up all of our points. We really didn’t care who won but we all shot within 3 points of each other. It was really fun just hanging out with friends.

Your Grandma would be proud!

Segway Tour of Raleigh, NC

On our first full day in North Carolina Mr. Z took us to Triangle Glides for a Segway tour of Raleigh. It was a fun surprise! Chris and I had done a Segway obstacle course at UF, but it was fun to spend more time on them for this tour.

Click on the play button below to see a slide show of pictures of our adventure! It was a 2 hour historical tour of Raleigh and we got to see lots of things including historical homes and buildings downtown. We enjoyed the trip through the cemetery because we got to go up a really steep incline and glide around.

When our segway tour was over it was time for lunch. We remembered a barbecue place that our tour guide pointed out to us so that’s where we went. Clyde Cooper’s BBQ was great NC-style BBQ!

Trip to North Carolina

Recently we went to North Carolina to visit our friend “Mr. Z” and his wife Danielle. When we got to the airport we had Cole take our picture. He likes to keep taking pictures and make us think it’s just one! We finally said “Did you take it yet?!” The picture below was probably the 6th one.

Trip to North Carolina

Our hosts made us beautiful salads for dinner that were very yummy. Here’s Chris with Danielle, Cole, and Mr. Z (and Zoe in the background!) More posts from North Carolina to come!
