  • Welcome to our Blog!

We are so excited to have you visit our blog.

We decided that keeping a blog would be the best way for us to keep our friends and family updated on what we have been up to since we moved from Florida to Lawrence, Kansas.

We like knowing that you visited our site, so please leave some comments. Thanks so much for stopping by; we hope you enjoy the stories and pictures.

Arthur Bryant’s

Recently we got to visit the world famous Arthur Brant’s Barbeque BBQ in Kansas City. We have seen it featured on several tv shows and had been wanting to go try it out since it is pretty close by.

Arthur Bryant

We got our chance to go when our wonderful friend Chelsea was moving from the East cost to the West coast and was going to be driving through Kansas City. We met her there and enjoyed getting to hang out and catch up with her for a bit. The food was alright, but the company was exceptional!

Tuff Shed

After all of our hard work, it was time for the Tuff Shed crew to come in and finish the project. The crew showed up right on time and got right to work. (They said they were impressed with all of our preparation.) They had the frame put together and the flooring on in only a few minutes. The four walls popped right up one after the other and they got the roof on in no time. Putting the shingles on was probably the thing that took the most time. Finally, they added the drip edge, hung the door, and installed the window. It only took them 2 hours to build the whole shed. It was really neat to see it come together so fast. The Tuff Shed crew was super nice and even let me take pictures and ask them questions while they worked. They cleaned up and were on their way to the next job. If you weren’t paying close attention, you’d think the shed had always been there.

Wow! That is impressive, looks great!

Storage Shed Preparation

We decided a while back that we wanted to put a storage shed in the backyard. We did some research and decided to buy a Tuff Shed from Home Depot. It was out best option after some special incentives and upgrades they were offering at the time. First, we had decided where in the yard to put the shed. Once we figured that out, we had to level the ground where we wanted the shed…and so the work began! I recruited some friends (and their tools) to help dig and set some concrete forms to support the shed. Since I love to build retaining walls, we thought this would be another good place to have one. Elyse is such a hard worker (if you didn’t already know) we got the wall built pretty fast. Then it was time to do some back-filling. We decided to use washed gravel to help with drainage. We also built a planter box on the front edge of the shed. I decided to add a few more cinder block supports and then we were ready for the Tuff Shed guys to come install our shed.

Motorsports Unlimited

Once Elyse took possession of the white F-150 she started making BIG plans. We did some small modifications and finally got around to our first good one. Elyse wanted to make the truck sit a little higher so we decided to get her a Rough Country leveling kit (with the rear blocks and shocks). We bought it from the guys over at Motorsports Unlimited here in Lawrence, KS. They gave us a great price, had it in stock, and installed it the next day.

Here’s how Elyse’s truck looks next to a stock two wheel drive. It is very noticeable how much higher it sits. The best part is that she loves it! Next up, rims and tires.

Bike Days at Heartland Park Topeka

On Memorial Day we went out to Heartland Park in Topeka to check out the road track. Chris, Cole, and I were able to join a Track Day experience where you get to test out the track for 4-5 laps following control riders (who make sure you take it easy). The track is 2.5 miles long with 14 turns; Chris and I loved turn #3, a wide turn that feels like it goes on forever!

We had a great time riding out on the track and getting a taste of the track racing experience. Here are some pics that were taken of Chris and I that day. Sorry, Cole; I guess you were so stealthy he missed you!

After we were done with our time on the track we stayed to watch some of our friends who were also at the track that day. Here’s Cole (and our bikes) as we spectated at one of the best sets of turns.

memorial day weekend twenty-twelve

memorial day weekend

We started off our weekend celebration with a trip to Heartland Park in Topeka to check out some drag racing. We got invited to check out the Engle Motor’s BMW s1000rr drag bike and we had a great time. We also did some of our own motorcycle riding with our friends.

memorial day weekend

Our friend Kim invited us down to Wichita to meet her family and to do some shootin’. Her dad has a Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle and we’ve been wanting to check it out for a while.

memorial day weekend

We started at 200 yards from our target with the .50 cal. Then we moved up to 100 yards with some smaller scoped rifles. Finally, we shot some AR’s and pistols a little closer.

We had a great and busy Memorial Day Weekend. Elyse wanted to show you the .50 cal rounds…
