Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

A while back we decided that we would seal or paint our garage floor to make it easier to clean. We chose Rust-Oleum’s 2-part Epoxy Shield.

We cleaned and rinsed out the garage before using the acid etch that came in the kit. After that all dried, I used some paintable concrete crack filler in a few places.

Here I am mixing Part A with Part B. Three minutes is a lot longer than you think when all you’re doing it stirring. Like my gloves?

We used painters tape in a few areas but decided it would be easier to touch-up the walls later.  I used the first section to figure out how much needed to be rolled on to cover the ground properly.

Here is the finished garage floor. Our kit did come with ‘the flakes’ but we didn’t want to use them, so we didn’t. The solid gray looks great and we are super happy with the outcome.

We let the floor dry for 24 hours before doing anything but as soon as we could walk on it we did the touch-up on the walls. Luckily, our little helper loves to be in the garage and she was ready to lend a hand/paw.

P.S. – Thank you honey for letting me fill our house with all my junk from the garage for that week.

It looks like Chita was a lot of help.

Hi,

I noticed you completed your floor in 2010. How does it look now in 2012?

Thanks

It still looks great!
