I’m finally getting around to doing some home projects. Right after we moved in we got 2″ designView blinds from Home Depot for the whole house. As you can see in the picture below the headrail is exposed because we never installed the valences since we weren’t too excited about the way they looked.

The valence itself is plain and simple, which we like, but the clips that hold it to the headrail is the part that we weren’t wild about. Not only can you see the clips but it made the valance stand too far out from the window casing.

I decided to take things into my own hands to come up with a solution. After a little thinking and a few quick measurements I knew what we could do.

Then it was time to get to work in the garage. We got out the miter saw and and transferred our measurements to the stack of valances and got right to cuttin’.

We decided on using clear 3M Scotch Reclosable Fasteners (which is like velcro but made with little plastic beads) to secure the valances because it will allow us to remove the valance if need be and it gave us the right amount of clearance to use the tilt wand and pull cords. After cutting the fasteners down to size we stuck them to the headrail’s mounting bracket.

From there it was really easy to attach the valance to the other side of the fasteners. Below is the finished product. They look clean and fit perfectly right into our window casing. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the way they turned out.

Here we are sitting around with Chita. We do a lot of sitting on the floor these days so that we can play with her. We love that she runs over and sits in your lap anytime you come sit on the floor. So sweet!

If she is being calm and behaving, we let her sit in our lap on the couch. Here she is chewing on one of her rawhide sticks sitting with Chris. It sure is nice when she’s calm enough to just sit around, but it doesn’t happen much!

On our quest to expose Chita to lots of new things while she’s a puppy, we took her downtown. There were lots of new things for her to see and smell (including too many cigarette butts on the ground; something I didn’t notice until trying to keep them out of her mouth that day.)

Here she is sitting sweetly with me on some stairs. She got to meet lots of new people on our walk, too. She is a very friendly dog who loves to say hi to everybody.

Chita’s on her second harness; she had a small but got upgraded to a medium the other day. We had never got her a regular collar and we decided that it would be easier than a harness for quick trips outside. This is the collar we decided on, we looked for a pink one but couldn’t find any that we liked. When she wears it she becomes a puppy pirate.

Elyse is always looking for something new to do with Chita. The other day when we were driving to our friends house, we decided to pull over at this little nature trail and take Chita for a walk. It was her first time being in the woods and she did really good. She stayed on the trail and only stopped a few times to take in some smells.

The other evening as I was walking Chita in the backyard I took a quick picture of the clouds making their way overhead. I thought it looked really neat with the sun setting in the background.
