Children of the Corn

Not all of our fall days are gloomy (although many are). On the nice days we like to drive around and soak up some sun before it’s all gone. Elyse really likes this picture that I took while driving and hanging out the window looking backwards (do not try this at home).

A little further down the road we noticed sections of the corn were missing so we decided to find out where all the corn was going. We didn’t see anything for a while and decided to take some back roads.

Corn Pickin' Time

We finally found the combine that was harvesting the corn. It was really awesome to see this thing moving through the fields eating everything in its path.

Here is his close-up on the way to unload some corn.

Corn Pickin' Time

This poor farmer must have thought we were crazy for taking pictures and videos of him…Have you ever seen so much corn?

There were also some other trucks waiting their turn for some corn and the farmer also had some other equipment up by the road that was fun to look at.

Corn Pickin' Time

This was another farmer unloading some of his corn into a truck that we saw a little later.

December 16, 2009 - 3:25 am AmyO - The funny thing about this post is that you just described how I grew up! I'm the daughter of a farmer and this was my normal. I've since moved to the city, but my family still farms. My husband had never been on a farm and it's so cool to see it through his eyes. From someone that has never known that way of life - it makes me appreciate it more now than I ever did when I was young!
