While we were in North Carolina we went with Mr. Z and his doggies, Zoe and Paisley, on the Raven Rock Trail. The Trail was over a mile each way and early on the way down Zoe found a huge stick and carried it down and all the way back. She looked around quite a bit before selecting the best stick. We tried offering her a “normal” dog-sized stick, but she preferred a much bigger limb! We all had to get out of her way as she came down the path. Near the end of the trail we walked down some steep stairs to the river’s edge. We threw sticks into the river for Zoe to fetch. Paisley pretty much just swam along and bugged Zoe! Cole and Mr. Z climbed some trees and the cliff! We hiked along the river some more and even slid down to a rock jutting out over the river. It was a very pretty trail! Enjoy the pictures…

While we were on our Segway tour we went past the North Carolina Museum of History. After our fill of BBQ we decided to go check it out. We walked around, looked at all the exhibits, and Mr. Z even tried his hand at milking a fake cow. It was fun and we all had a good time.

After we got back from Raleigh, Mr. Z pulled out his .22 rifle and some targets for us to shoot at in the backyard. We stapled them to the trees and all took turns making different kinds of shots. As a side note, we did find out Cole shoots just as good left handed as he does right handed.

When it got dark we pulled down all of our targets and added up all of our points. We really didn’t care who won but we all shot within 3 points of each other. It was really fun just hanging out with friends.

On our first full day in North Carolina Mr. Z took us to Triangle Glides for a Segway tour of Raleigh. It was a fun surprise! Chris and I had done a Segway obstacle course at UF, but it was fun to spend more time on them for this tour.

It was a 2 hour historical tour of Raleigh and we got to see lots of things including historical homes and buildings downtown. We enjoyed the trip through the cemetery because we got to go up a really steep incline and glide around.

When our segway tour was over it was time for lunch. We remembered a barbecue place that our tour guide pointed out to us so that’s where we went. Clyde Cooper’s BBQ was great NC-style BBQ!
